Meet Mutt Mama
About Yvette Warner – Founder of Mutt Mama
My journey with dogs began over twenty years ago with my own beloved Bassett Hound-Lab mix, Dumpling. Dumpling was as stubborn as she was sweet, and through persistent training, she transformed from an unruly pup to a well-mannered family member I could trust in any situation. Dumpling helped me discover my natural ability to train dogs, and that passion has only grown since.
Growing up, I was always surrounded by dogs, but not all of them were friendly. In the neighborhood where I was raised, loose dogs often chased us kids, and this created in me both a fear and a fascination with these animals. Today, it feels ironic yet fulfilling to be a dog trainer—helping people and their dogs build a safe and trusting relationship.
I am also a retired Deputy Sheriff, having served over 20 years with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. During my career, I had the privilege of working in diverse environments, from the Santa Ana Main Jail to patrolling areas across South Orange County and Stanton. Along the way, I learned valuable skills in command presence and effective communication with people from all walks of life—skills that have translated seamlessly into my work as a Pack Leader with Mutt Mama.
Friends and family would often call me the “dog whisperer,” asking me to help them with their dogs. I’d train dogs simply out of love and a desire to help others. Over time, many encouraged me to start my own training business. In 2024, the timing felt right, and Mutt Mama was born.
Earlier this year, I completed an intense training course with Augusto Deoliveira, known as “The Dog Daddy,” where I learned to work with even the most challenging rescue dogs. This experience reinforced my belief that every dog deserves a second chance and that, with the right handling, any dog can thrive.
At Mutt Mama, I use balanced training methods that emphasize leash guidance, positive reinforcement, and focused interaction. My goal is to teach my clients the art of Pack Leadership while training their dogs the state of calm surrender, creating a deep bond and mutual respect. My own dog, Krona, helps me demonstrate what this looks like first hand. I use Krona in my training. He brings calm surrender and a balanced energy.
Watching dogs and their families find harmony is incredibly rewarding, and hearing that a client now enjoys a peaceful, manageable life with their dog is the greatest satisfaction I could ask for.
